User Experience Designer III (Contingent)

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced UX Designer who excels at both design systems work and hands-on product design to join our team supporting innovative consumer device experiences. You will spend the majority of your time crafting reusable UI components, documenting patterns, and creating comprehensive guidelines that empower both internal teams and external developers. The remainder of your time will be dedicated to designing sophisticated workflows for enterprise tools, partner-facing experiences, and promotional features. This role requires someone who can balance systematic thinking with creative problem-solving, communicate design decisions clearly through documentation, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. As a remote contractor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, engineers, and third-party partners to deliver high-quality design solutions that scale across multiple platforms and use cases. Responsibilities: Design UI components and patterns for television and tablet interfaces, including buttons, cards, navigation elements, and content browsing experiences Create detailed use case documentation with guidance on appropriate usage, best practices, common pitfalls, and component anatomy Write Human Interface Guidelines to help third-party developers build applications that meet platform standards Document specialized UI patterns for large-screen experiences, including focus states, remote control navigation, and voice interaction behaviors Facilitate weekly governance office hours to support design teams with questions and guidance on design system usage Conduct design system audits to ensure consistent component implementation and provide recommendations for improvement Design workflows for internal enterprise tools and complex service design challenges Create user flows that address multi-step processes and sophisticated interaction requirements Design marketing and promotional experiences that engage users across device platforms Build intuitive developer tools and partner-facing dashboards that streamline collaboration Skills: Three to five years of experience designing and documenting component libraries within design systems Deep knowledge of design system principles including design tokens, component architecture, pattern libraries, and documentation standards Proven ability to write clear, comprehensive use case documentation and design guidelines Exceptional visual design and interaction design capabilities Experience designing complex workflows for enterprise applications and multi-step processes Strong written communication skills for creating specifications, guidelines, and technical documentation Advanced proficiency in Figma, including component design, prototyping, and design system management Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in a remote contractor capacity Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, product managers, engineers, and external partners Diplomatic consulting approach that provides guidance while respecting team dynamics Comfort working in ambiguous situations and adapting to fast-paced environments Qualifications: Portfolio demonstrating component design work and pattern documentation Understanding of WCAG AA accessibility standards is preferred Experience with smart television or large-screen UI design is a plus Familiarity with tablet or touch interface design is beneficial Knowledge of design tokens such as JSON and CSS variables is helpful Basic HTML and CSS understanding is advantageous for creating specifications Experience with documentation tools such as UXPin Merge, Zeroheight, or Storybook is preferred This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact on design systems that serve millions of users while also flexing your product design skills on challenging enterprise and partner-facing projects.
