Textile Surface Designer / Graphic Designer - REMOTE (Part-Time, Potential Full-Time) We’re a small company of weirdo pioneers building things as we go — and after eight years, we’re officially done doing it without you. We’re looking for a talented, independent surface designer who gets our aesthetic vibe, has the ability to self-start and can stay focused even from home in their jammies. If you thrive in creativity, value originality over templates, and can translate an aesthetic into cohesive, market-ready designs, keep reading. This role is ideal for a designer with the ability to distill down the key components of our design aesthetic and infuse that into all work, the ability to work independently in a collaborative and imperfect environment, and the ability to keep very organized with both file management and time management. About the Team You’ll be working closely with our Chief Creative Officer, whose aesthetic vision is what sets our brand apart from competitors. She works best with people who communicate clearly, do not require babysitting, who contribute to problem-solving and who can accept design feedback as it’s intended - as a business decision, not a personal one. Shared taste, or the ability to adapt to the CCO’s general aesthetic, and independence are critical. You should be comfortable presenting concepts, making thoughtful decisions, and moving projects forward without excessive guidance. The Role Your primary focus will be creating original textile and surface designs for our niche industries. Core themes you’ll work with include: Florals & botanicals Americana Vintage & European heritage-inspired styles Cottage-core The overall design feel is hand-painted/drawn, prioritizing texture, variation, and imperfection. It is not overly graphic or digital so the right designer will need to easily fit into our style wheelhouse. In addition to surface design, you’ll also occasionally support our team with: Marketing assets for our website and socials Brand visuals Strong typography skills and an understanding of negative space are essential. We are not looking for: Generic or stock-looking designs Template-driven work Overly cartoony styles Script-heavy typography What We’re Looking For Strong, aligned taste — or the ability to quickly understand and adapt to ours The ability to immerse yourself in an industry and design collections without step-by-step direction Excellent organizational skills (file management is non-negotiable) Proactive, self-managed work habits Comfort working independently in a fast-moving, imperfect environment Let’s be clear: this is not a Canva-only role . You should be fluent in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or comparable professional tools.
