Job Overview Are you a Squarespace wizard who thrives on crafting beautiful, high-performing websites? We’re seeking a talented Squarespace Developer + Designer to join Defender Digital, our digital marketing agency, as a part-time 1099 contractor (10–20 hours per week, depending on client workload). As a Christian-founded agency that respects all faiths and backgrounds, we primarily serve executive coaches, consultants, and keynote speakers—helping them elevate their online presence with polished, conversion-focused websites. In this flexible, mostly remote role, you’ll work directly with our CEO to build, customize, and maintain client Squarespace sites. The work is project-based and varies week to week, giving you control over your schedule while delivering meaningful impact. No federal holiday work required—we believe in true disconnection during time off. After 6 months of strong performance, pay increases are available, and there’s potential for additional hours if desired (though most contractors prefer 15–20 hours/week). Responsibilities NOTE: THE ABILITY TO MEET STRICT DEADLINES IS REQUIRED. (Workload varies week-to-week based on active projects) Design and build new Squarespace landing pages, microsites, and full websites from scratch or existing templates Implement custom design solutions using Squarespace’s native tools, CSS, and JavaScript injections Integrate third-party tools, especially forms with Klaviyo (newsletters, lead capture, segmentation, etc.) and other common platforms (Zapier, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc.) Troubleshoot and debug custom code, broken integrations, mobile responsiveness issues, and performance problems on existing client sites Perform site migrations, domain/DNS updates, SEO basics, and accessibility improvements as needed Collaborate with the CEO via Slack/email to clarify requirements, share progress previews, and iterate quickly Occasionally join client or internal Zoom calls (camera on) to discuss project scope or present options Deliver projects on agreed timelines with clear, professional communication throughout Required Experience & Skills Expert-level proficiency with Squarespace (7.1 and Fluid Engine required; legacy 7.0 knowledge a plus) Strong design sensibility—able to create clean, modern, conversion-focused layouts that align with brand guidelines Comfortable with custom code: CSS, JavaScript, and Squarespace Developer Mode when needed Proven experience integrating Squarespace forms and commerce with Klaviyo (flows, segments, signup forms, etc.) Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently (e.g., broken custom code, conflicting scripts, checkout problems) Excellent written communication and proactive status updates Highly organized, deadline-driven, and calm under pressure Reliable high-speed internet and professional remote workspace for occasional video calls Bonus Skills (Not Required) Experience with Wix (helpful for occasional client migrations or comparisons) Familiarity with email marketing platforms beyond Klaviyo (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, etc.) Basic graphic design skills in Canva, Figma, or Adobe tools Knowledge of Meta Ads tracking, Google Tag Manager, or advanced SEO implementations Join Defender Digital as our go-to Squarespace expert and help our clients launch websites that attract, convert, and impress.
