📄Description
Product UI Designer @ Edgevanta
Note: This role requires fluent English. You'll communicate daily with an English-speaking team across async and live conversations.
Company Background
At Edgevanta, our mission is to empower civil contractors to estimate and bid faster and more accurately. Our customers are the unsung heroes building the infrastructure we all rely on — from the water systems that sustain us to the airports that connect us to the roads we drive on every day. Without infrastructure contractors, society wouldn't function.
Our Story
Edgevanta was born from the dirt. Our Founder and CEO, Tristan Wilson, is a fourth-generation contractor who grew up on job sites, estimating and managing heavy civil work.
We believe Estimators Are Awesome. They sift through thousands of pages — specs, plans, bid tabs — making sense of chaos under tight deadlines and tighter margins. But outdated tools slow them down, wasting time on what should be automatic.
Edgevanta exists to give estimators superpowers. We give them their time back with AI — automating the repetitive, surfacing the critical, and unlocking faster, more accurate bids. Because better bids don't just win jobs — they build better infrastructure for the world. We work with many of the top infrastructure contractors in North America and are growing rapidly.
Our Culture
Edgevanta's success is built on four core values that define everything we do: Make It Happen, Fix Customer Problems, Curiosity, and Candor. If you're passionate about creating meaningful impact and committed to going above and beyond, we want to hear from you.
Summary
We're hiring a Product UI Designer to work alongside our engineering team and raise the quality bar on everything we ship. This is not a leadership role — it's a hands-on craft role. You'll design new interfaces from scratch, help establish design standards and best practices, and collaborate closely with engineers so that what gets built reflects clear, intentional design decisions. Engineering owns 95% of what we ship. Your job is to make sure it looks and feels like it was built with intention.
Responsibilities
Design new interfaces from scratch for the Edgevanta platform — data-dense views, workflows, and tools used daily by civil construction estimators.
Work directly with engineers to translate product requirements into clear, well-structured UI.
Help establish and document design standards and best practices that the engineering team can apply consistently.
Contribute to building a shared visual language and component references that keep the product coherent as it grows.
Give structured design feedback on engineering deliverables — not to gatekeep, but to elevate.
Collaborate with the founder and principal engineer on product direction and UX decisions.
Qualifications
Requirements
4+ years of proven experience designing complex digital products, with a portfolio that demonstrates clarity, structure, and strong visual judgment.
Experience designing for B2B or enterprise tools — you understand that utility and clarity matter more than aesthetics alone.
Strong visual sense and sharp attention to detail — you can define what good looks like and articulate why.
Comfortable working without a design spec handed to you — you create the spec.
Clear, direct communication — you can explain design decisions to engineers and non-designers without losing them.
You work well in small, fast-moving teams where ownership is high and process is lean.
You're genuinely curious and get excited about the craft — someone who finds real satisfaction in designing interfaces that are both functional and beautiful, and who cares about the details even when no one is checking.
Experience with data-dense UIs: tables, dashboards, filtering systems.
Accessibility — you design interfaces that are fully operable from the keyboard and inclusive by default.
Nice to have
Familiarity with frontend concepts — component structure, spacing systems, responsive behavior — enough to design with implementation in mind.
Exposure to React component libraries such as Radix UI or shadcn/ui.
CSS.
TailwindCSS.
Good fit
You see engineers as partners, not executors of your designs.
You set standards through your own work and help others apply them.
You're energized by ambiguity and by the challenge of designing something that doesn't exist yet.
You get genuinely excited when a complex interface finally clicks — when clarity and function come together.
Likely not a fit
You need a fully structured design process before you can produce work.
You prefer to hand off and move on rather than stay close through implementation.
Success in This Role Looks Like
The engineering team has clear design references and standards to build against.
New interfaces are shipped with visual consistency and intentional UX decisions.
Design quality improves measurably across the product over time.
Engineers feel supported, not blocked.
Compensation: USD 4,000 – 6,000 per month
