32–40 hours, Fully remote We are looking for a Casual Games Level Designer who can create satisfying, readable, and highly engaging levels for casual puzzle games played by millions of people worldwide. As part of one of our multidisciplinary game development teams, you will design, build, balance, test, and iterate levels from early concept through live operations. You understand that great casual puzzle levels are not just “hard” or “easy”: they create flow, teach mechanics naturally, produce satisfying wins, and keep players coming back. About the role As a Level Designer at CoolGames, you take ownership of the player experience inside our casual puzzle games. You will create levels that are fun, fair, understandable, and commercially effective. You will be part of a multidisciplinary agile team, collaborating closely with game designers, developers, artists, QA engineers, producers and data analysts. Together, you will work on new puzzle titles, improve existing live games, and help shape the tools and processes that make high-quality level production scalable. Your responsibilities include designing and balancing level progressions, creating level packs, tuning difficulty curves, identifying friction points, analyzing player behavior, and improving retention through better level flow. You will also review player data and playtest feedback to understand where players succeed, struggle, retry, churn, or feel delighted. You are comfortable working both creatively and analytically. You can design a fun level by instinct, but you also know how to validate that instinct through testing, metrics, and iteration. About You You are proactive and thrive on taking ownership and responsibility. You care deeply about how players feel when they play. You know how to create levels that teach without overexplaining, challenge without frustrating, and reward without becoming predictable. Responsibilities Design and balance appealing levels from concept, to creation using internal tools. Design the structure and the order of levels to create an ideal progression for the player. Collaborate with Data Analysts and Game designers to understand level performance through analytics and adjust levels accordingly. Adjust and modify designs and the game levels based on game metrics, team input, internal/external playtests, and product feedback Working with a talented and cross-discipline team to grow the product by adding new levels while also continuously improving the existing game experience. Communicate design clearly and concisely with the team and throughout the studio Inspire the agile and multidisciplinary game team through progressive & creative design Requirements Requirements A consistent 5+ years track record of (relevant and released) Casual games and Casual puzzles. Profound insight into the level balancing, pacing & difficulty tuning Solid problem-solving abilities and critical thinking Independent, self-motivated, driving new initiatives to improve the game.
